(a) Product Development:

  • Build upon an insurance platform to harness the power of rainfall data and couple it with the vast farmer database to produce customized messages for the smallholder farmer’s unique situation.
  • Utilize expertise to codify and expand the use of WhatsApp as a direct-messaging platform for smallholder farmers, and the agribusinesses that directly serve them.
  •  Develop and testing of a scheduler for SMS, IVR and WhatsApp messages building on an existing database system.

(b) A/B testing of content and channels:

  • Develop content based on 2017/2018 in-season learnings
  • A/B test messages with farmers from the database to see which are -more effective at influencing smallholder behaviour.
  • A/B test delivery channels, using WhatsApp for business, direct SMS campaigns, and push-pull SMS services
  • Deliver highest resonating messages through the highest impact channel to all farmers (both seed and fertilizer customers) during the 2018/2019 maize season

(c) Development of WhatsApp business product

  • Close work with ecosystem partners to become an early adopter of the WhatsApp Business platform.
  • Will require integration into current system, as well as a staff person to manage the relationship with WhatsApp

Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North-Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Enterprise Systems specialist

Role Summary

Reporting to the Enterprise Systems Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting Enterprise systems and business enabling applications. Participate in ongoing projects involving an evaluation of different options for departmental systems to suit the different departmental requirements and integrate into the Barrick IMT Enterprise Architecture.

Your duties will include but not limited to the following:


  • Review user security and administration of the Pronto Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other business systems
  • Perform routine maintenance and error checking required to keep the existing systems operational
  • Log and track ERP software faults/ user requests as required with the vendor following existing procedures
  • Change control and user acceptance as per SOX Controls
  • Preparing documentation for system analysis, design, development and implementation while managing projects with the IS Team following the organizations standards, policies and procedures
  • Train end users and prepare necessary documentation to complete project implementation and delivery.
  • Provide application and business process level support for ERP system
  • Working with the Service Delivery & Infrastructure teams in implementing ongoing projects following the Barrick IMT Project management methodology
  • Provide regular operational reports to enable effective management of key performance activities

Experience & Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems,Finance or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum experience (5 years) in the IT sector
  • Experience in business intelligence systems analysis, design, development and implementation
  • Experience in Pronto / or other ERP applications
  • Experience in relational database systems (SQL Server 2012 or later, Oracle 9i, 10g and 11g)
  • ITIL Foundation and Prince 2 Certifications will be an added advantage

The Senior Relationship Manager will be responsible for coordinating the sales efforts for liabilities and assets, extensively marketing low cost liabilities and identifying suitable assets for on-boarding. He/She will ensure and track implementation of solutions with product teams, GTS, Treasury, Scheme loans, within the agreed turnaround time and collaborate with GTS staff to ensure proposals and tenders have Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) input and are submitted timely.

Under the supervision of the Head – Large Corporates, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:-

  • Originate, maintain and develop relationships in corporate market and or more in the specifically defined portfolio.
  • Manage a corporate loan book within parameters provided by Risk Management.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions and prepare information pack for Corporate Credit to prepare credit applications for new and renewed loan facilities for CIB clients.
  • Present and defend CIB credit applications in the Credit Committee.
  • Attend regular meetings with customers, product teams and other internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare Call Planning, Call Reports & Tracking Templates and update the deal pipeline.
  • Complete the wallet size for clients and timely & appropriately file all client calls, client communications, internal memos and credit papers on the assigned portfolio.
  • Timely initiate all credit processes (extensions, excess full briefs, annual reviews).
  • Cross-sell Trade, Treasury & GTS products and refer potential clients of the Bank for SMEs, Agric and Retail.
  • Assist Head – Large Corporates (LC) with product knowledge and market research (Desktop).
  • Coordinate and provide input to GLC & credit processes and create bank proposals and track to make certain of their timely delivery.
  • Assist the Head – Large Corporates’ business development activities, business planning, customer acquisition and strategy, business research and marketing.
  • Collate all action points raised in call reports and track and drive each action to its conclusion. This is an integral part of the role.
  • Assist in the communication and implementation of any action necessary to improve service in respect of complaints/compliments received.
  • Jointly work with Corporate Credit & Risk on credit issues with a view to implementing the Zanaco credit processes.
  • Coordinate post-approval actions for credit facilities for the Unit.
  • Proactively initiate all credit proposals and obtain appropriate approvals.
  • Appraise Head – Large Corporates of any appropriate market information.
  • Develop and implement sales strategy and ensure that there is no income leakage in the unit.
  • Refer to Head – Large Corporates on non-business relationships that are acceptable and profitable to the bank.


  • External: Existing/prospective customers, Competitors, Local regulators on statutory matters and Key Business Introducers (KBI’s) – Accountants, Lawyers.
  • Internal: All Divisions


  • Grade 12 Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects.
  • University Degree in a relevant subject.
  • Professional Diploma in Banking and Finance will an added advantage.
  • At least five (5) years banking experience in corporate sales/customer service.
  • Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) knowledge, including products not specifically offered within CIB e.g. FX Trades and workforce banking.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation e.g. KYC, Anti – Money laundering, Banking code.
  • Understanding of people policies and processes.
  • Robust understanding of credit risk management.

The role

The Business Controller (BC) is responsible for assisting the Sales Area Business Controller (SABC) with country business control activities and to support the Business Line Managers. The role is responsible for monitoring, measuring, and analysing business activities and to conduct continuous follow-up of performance. The local BC is also responsible to follow-up the application and adherence of the Sandvik Group policies and procedures.

Key performance areas

Business Growth and Development

  • Participates in planning processes.
  • Review business processes and procedures to advice Sales Area Business Controller about potential flaws, anomalies and errors
  • Support Business Line Managers in financial issues – P&L and Balance Sheet matters


  • Reviews and analyses operating results in relation to cost, forecasts and operating policies and advises the BLMs.

Your profile

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, ZICA Diploma, ACCA/CIMA level II

Architectural and Engineering Project in Zambia – Multiple Positions

Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd. (Cardno) is seeking Urban and Regional Planners, Safety/Occupational Health Engineers and a Fire Protection Engineer. The closing date for applications is February 25, 2018.

Fire Protection Engineer:

Qualifications for positions:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in the appropriate branch of engineering or field of specialty
  • The ideal candidate should hold advance degrees and have extensive experience and knowledge in concepts, principles and practices in developing countries within the field of science or engineering field (professional engineering registration is mandatory)
  • Working knowledge of English is required
