Head Driver

The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) a body corporate and responsible for regulation of public procurement in Zambia invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for appointment into ZPPA’s establishment for the following positions:

JOB TITLE: HEAD DRIVER-ZPPA 07

1.0 PURPOSE

To maintain the vehicle fleet by carrying out minor repairs and ensuring that all Authority vehicles are serviced as required, documents transported and officers ferried to various destinations.

2.0 The officer will be required to perform the following duties:

  1. Ensures that the vehicle fleet is well maintained and available for use and assigns duties to Drivers in consultation with superior;
  2. Checks road worthiness of vehicles and carries out minor repairs and recommends major repairs to be carried out by established garages and vehicle franchise holders as provide by the Transport policy;
  3. When required, ferries officers to various destinations to carry out their duties and makes deliveries to different locations of the city and country as required;
  4. Distributes mail and other correspondence to Board Members and also collects mail from the post office and other offices as instructed when Drivers are not available;
  5. Ensures vehicles are cleaned and maintained to guarantee road worthy condition
  6. Carries out general inspections of vehicles once in a week and when required to ascertain their road worthy condition and carries out minor repairs and reports any malfunction of vehicle to superior for remedial action;
  7. Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly and annual reports on fleet management; and
  8. Performs other official duties as may be delegated from time to time by superiors.

3.0 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with five (5) credits or better;
  2. Craft Certificate in auto mechanics with a valid minimum Class C Driving License;
  3. Diploma in CILT or transport management related field will be added advantage; and
  4. A least three (3) years’ post qualification experience in transport management.

4.0 SKILL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  1. Good communication skills in writing and oral orientation;
  2. Good interpersonal and analytical skills;
  3. Competency in driving GRZ vehicles will be added advantage; and
  4. Must be a member of Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (ZCILT) with current practicing certificate;

5.0 TENURE

The appointment of the Head Driver is on permanent and pensionable basis.
